Student Research Grant
The Student Research Grant is designed to stimulate, promote and support cutting-edge research that advances the science of military psychology.
Division 19 Student Research Grants assist graduate/undergraduate students of psychology with costs associated with conducting research. This annual award will be presented to students whose research reflects excellence in military psychology. One or more Student Research Grants will be awarded in amounts up to $1500. The award winner(s) may receive the award at the APA's Annual Convention, although convention attendance is not required.

Eligibility
Applicants must be enrolled and in good standing in a graduate/undergraduate program in psychology.
Applicants must be student affiliates of Division 19. Applicants who are not Division 19 student affiliates must apply to become one online prior to submitting materials for this Grant; the Division 19 Student Research Grant Committee must receive all materials in a complete PDF formatted package.
Applicants must have had their proposals approved by a faculty advisor prior to application.
The proposed research may be in any area of interest dealing with military psychology, including, but not limited to, clinical research and industrial/organizational research.
How To Apply
Applicants must be enrolled and in good standing in a graduate/undergraduate program in psychology.
Applicants must complete the 2013 Division 19 Student Research Grant application form (PDF, 22.4KB). The application form must be typed and submitted with the following materials:
A. One-page maximum typed cover letter describing your research interests, experience and career plans.
B. Five-page maximum summary of the research, including an explanation of research design and other important aspects of the project, and a brief explanation of proposed use of funds (i.e., a budget). The award must be used to support expenses that are directly related to the research (e.g., computer time, animal care, equipment, participant fees); it may not be used for tuition or personal expenses. Please note: Figures or tables may be included only if they can be incorporated into the five-page research summary. The research summary must not exceed the five-page limit including budget details and any figures or tables.
C. Two-page maximum Curriculum Vitae including scientific publications and presentations.
D. One-page maximum letter of recommendation from your academic advisor or professor.The application form and the additional materials listed above must be scanned into one PDF document and emailed to the student representative for submission. Each applicant should keep a copy of the submitted materials.
Decisions will be based upon the quality of the submitted information. Panels of psychologists representing the breadth of military psychology will make funding recommendations to the Division 19 Student Research Grant Committee.
Award recipients will be announced during the Division 19 business meeting at APA's Annual Convention. Funds will be provided directly to students following the announcement of the award recipients.
Each award recipient must submit a one-page report specifying how the funds were used on August of the following year. The report must be co-signed by the chair or head of the department.
