APA 2012 program report

Program includes poster sessions, symposia, speeches, a career mentoring event and social hour

By Benjamin Mast and Monisha Pasupathi

Division 20 is pleased to offer an exciting convention program in 2012 that provides cutting edge findings for researchers, clinicians, and teachers. The 2012 Division 20 program offers two poster sessions and a variety of symposia and special presentations covering a range of topics. This year we have collaborated with Division 7 (Developmental Psychology) to offer a symposium on lifespan perspectives on resilience, complimented by a presidential address by Carolyn Aldwin on resilience and optimal aging. James Jackson will give an address integrating health, diversity, and aging. The Baltes award address will be given by Chris Hertzog, on metacognitive self-regulation and aging, and we also have a cornucopia of impressive talks that introduce our new fellows. We also will be offering a presidential symposium on integrated geriatric practice, a speed mentoring career event (with CONA and Division 40, Neuropsychology), and our always worthwhile social hour (jointly with Division 12, section 2, Clinical Geropsychology)

We hope you will at least be able to see you at some of the events highlighted in the program overview in this newsletter! Division 20 member Susan Krauss Whitbourne will be tweeting division events and other items of interest at the APA convention.
