Message from the President
By Frank Drews
I am writing you to express my thanks to all of those who made our division's annual convention such a great success. Those of you who were at the meeting know what a fabulous program we had. Most of the sessions were organized in collaboration with other divisions which lead to an overall very good showing. Overall, this year’s meeting was a great success. Let me thank especially Yi-Yuan Tang for developing such a great program.
Of course now is also the time to look ahead and to start planning for next year’s meeting in Washington, D.C. I think that we will have a great opportunity to showcase the many activities members of our division are involved in. I would like to encourage you to start thinking about sessions you may want to organize. If you have ideas or suggestions, don’t hesitate to contact me or our program chair Jeanine Stefanucci.
In addition, because of the convention’s location, I would like to have a strong student program. Please encourage your students to submit either posters or talks. I am hoping that we will be able to organize one session that consists exclusively of student contributions.
As part of our effort to recruit new members to our division, I am planning to reach out to students and especially junior faculty. If you have students or colleagues whom you think should be part of Div. 21, I would like you to share with me their contact information. I am happy to contact them personally and will try to convince them of the benefits of joining Div. 21. Of course, this should not prevent you from doing the same. So, let’s work together to grow our membership!
As usual, feel free to email me with ideas and questions about the division.
President - Division 21
