Welcome to the new Div. 28 website page for students! I hope that you will find the links listed below useful. If you have any suggestions on how to improve this site, please email Justin Strickland, student representative.
We invite you to become a student affiliate of APA and our division. APA is the largest association of psychologists worldwide, and the Division of Psychopharmacology and Substance Abuse is one of the first organizations to have the investigation of drugs and behavior as its mission. Our members include national and international experts in psychopharmacology and substance abuse.
Becoming a student affiliate of APA and of this division provides a forum for networking with other students as well as distinguished researchers and clinicians. You will also have access to listservs and websites that provide useful information about funding, postdoctoral positions, and other educational opportunities. Send an email message to Dustin Stairs, our membership chair, to become a student affiliate of Div. 28.
Student affiliate status in our division is free. While APA affiliate status is not required, we recommend that our affiliates also become student affiliates of APA. You would then receive free subscriptions to APA magazines, discounts on APA journals, and low APA convention registration fees (this year, registration was free for all APA student affiliates who presented a first-author paper). Check out the many other benefits of APA affiliation.
Div. 28 Undergraduate Scholarship
Each year we sponsor the Div. 28 APA Convention Undergraduate Scholarship. Awardees receive a one-year APA membership and convention registration and are invited to present their research and join our members at poster sessions and symposia. This award affords undergraduate students the opportunity to network with leaders in the field of psychopharmacology and substance abuse and to learn more about graduate school programs and training opportunities. Please consider nominating an undergraduate in your lab for next year's scholarship.
