Committee on Early Career Psychologists (ECP) Initiative Award

The annual Division 31 Committee on Early Career Psychologists (ECP) Initiative Award rewards a state, provincial and territorial psychological association for implementing exemplary activities or initiatives that engage and sustain early career psychologists in roles of advocacy, leadership or the practice of psychology. The winner is selected from nominations by any member of an SPTA and Division 31. Winning SPTAs must meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Success in recruiting and engaging ECP members.

  • Activities and initiatives that support the professional and personal development of ECPs.

  • Innovative educational offerings that help prepare members for the future of psychology.

  • Success in engaging ECPs in leadership roles within the organization.

Division 31 will grant $750 to the winning SPTA to use toward future ECP activities.

Annual Deadline: June 1 

Eligibility

To be considered for this award, an SPTA must include:

  • Recruiting initiatives that draw new ECP members into the associations and increase ECP representation in the governance of the associations.

  • New and innovative programs that contribute to increased knowledge about leadership and advocacy for ECPs.

  • Sponsoring ECP-focused continuing education workshops to enhance integrated practice competencies.

  • Implementing community forums to address issues critical to the development of innovative clinical and business practices where ECPs may flourish.

Upon receiving the award, awardees are required to write a brief article describing their SPTA's winning contribution. On the one-year anniversary of winning the award, awardees must write a second article describing subsequent outcomes. Both articles will be published in Division 31's newsletter and on the division's social media sites.
