President: Janet Swim, PhD
Swim's research addresses perceptions and responses to current social and environmental issues. She examines the impact of information, motivation (e.g., values, beliefs, and emotions), and behavioral skills on interest in information about climate change and engagement in pro-environmental behavior.
The 2012 Proshansky-Newman Professional Achievement Award winner, Paul C. Stern, PhD, will give a talk titled, "Going Beyond Application to Integration: How Psychologists Can More Effectively Address Real World Problems," in which he will discuss the difference between applied psychology and integrated psychology. His talk is currently scheduled for Saturday, August 4, 2-2:50 p.m.
Elke U. Weber, PhD, Center for Research on Environmental Decisions, Columbia University, will give a plenary address titled, "Query Theory: Knowing What We Want by Arguing with Ourselves" on Saturday, August 4, 4-4:50 p.m.
