2011 Newman–Prohansky Award Winner
Winner: Nancy Adler
The winner of the 2011 Newman–Proshansky Award is Nancy E. Adler, who is Professor of Medical Psychology, as well as Director of the Center for Health and Community, Vice-Chair, Department of Psychiatry, Chair, MacArthur Network on Socioeconomic Status and Health, and Director of the Postdoctoral Fellowship “Psychology and Medicine: Translational Research on Stress, Behavior, and Disease,” at the University of California at San Francisco. She served as President of Division 34. Her research spans two areas: one involves reproductive health, and the second involves the impact of SES on health and the role of psychosocial mediators. The Newman–Proshansky Award is the division’s professional achievement award and is awarded to population psychologists. On alternate years, the Proshansky–Newman Award is awarded to environmental psychologists.
