Student Committee Report

The newest addition to Division 34 is the Student Committee, which is responsible for website resource pages including updating student meeting and convention information and increasing student membership

The newest addition to the Society for Environmental, Population, and Conservation Psychology is the Student Committee. The student delegation elected President Nicole Sintov (USC), President-Elect Bijan Kimiagar (CUNY), and Secretary Steph Paidas-Dukarm (Pacifica Graduate Institute) in 2010 and we are all excited to serve our fellow students though the APA Convention in August. Our primary goal this year is to increase membership and engagement.

Specific projects include:

  • Creation of resource pages for student members on the division website, including listings of relevant conferences, journals in which to publish scholarly work, postdoctoral and employment position resources, and travel award and fellowship opportunities.

  • Increasing student membership to 100 student members by the Convention

  • Exploring fundraising options for student travel support (including the 2011 APA Convention)

  • Planning an informal social event (e.g. happy hour) at the 2011 APA Convention for students (others are welcome to join as well)

If you are interested in getting involved or have any suggestions for helping us meet our goals, please contact Nicole Sintov. The committee is excited to serve the Society’s members and would like to thank the Executive Committee for their support.
