Behavioral Environmental Economics
A workshop on behavioral environmental economics is being organized in Toulouse for Oct. 11-12, 2012. The organizers’ aim is to gather top scholars in behavioral economics, environmental economics, and psychology to discuss environmental issues from a new perspective.
Division International Grant Program
APA’s Committee on International Relations in Psychology (CIRP) is now accepting applications for its new Division International Activities Grant (DIAG) Program. CIRP will provide up to $500 for divisioninitiated programs aimed at fostering internationalization and international members outreach. Deadline for submissions is Sept. 3, 2012.
UIC Summer Institute on Sustainability and Energy Now Accepting Applications
The Summer Institute on Sustainability and Energy (SISE) at the University of Illinois at Chicago is an intense interdisciplinary program for graduate and senior-level undergraduate students. From Aug. 9 - 17, 2012, participants from diverse academic backgrounds will be immersed in a broad spectrum of sustainability and energy-related topics: policy, economics, health, science, engineering, environment, urban planning, business, and entrepreneurship.
Statistical Modeling Conference
Fourth Annual NCSU Statistical Modeling Workshop: Applied Regression, Multilevel, and Latent Variable Modeling Workshop, Aug. 6-10, 2012
This five-day workshop is designed for the researcher who wishes to expand his or her statistical toolkit to include advanced modeling techniques. The workshop is divided into three different but complementary classes. You can take one, two, or three of the classes.
Class 1 (Monday) will focus on multiple regression (using SPSS and SAS), an understanding of which is essential for the other two classes.
Class 2 (Tuesday-Wednesday) focuses on confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling, and latent growth curve modeling using AMOS.
Class 3 (Thursday-Friday) will cover Multilevel Modeling using SAS.
All three classes will be conducted in computer labs. Each class will consist of lectures as well as hands-on practice to analyze your own data. The overarching goal of all three classes is straightforward and pragmatic: You will learn when, why, and how to do each of the analyses using your own data.

Behavior Change for a Sustainable World Conference at Ohio State
Ohio State University will be the site of the “Behavior Change for a Sustainable World Conference,” an international gathering hosted by the Association of Behavioral Analysis International, on how basic principles of behavior change can increase sustainability and help preserve our environment. The conference will be held Aug. 3-5, 2012 at the Ohio Union on the Columbus campus. The program will feature well-respected figures in behavior analysis, environmental organizations, business, and government. Invited speakers and panels, research and project posters, and interactive brainstorming sessions will give conference attendees an opportunity to communicate with people of diverse backgrounds who are interested in working on one of the greatest challenges to face civilization. Ohio State’s climatologist Lonnie Thompson will give the opening keynote address at the event Friday, August 3.
Experiencing Light 2012 Conference: Doctoral Consortium
We would like to remind doctoral students and their mentors that in addition to our two-day scientific conference Experiencing Light 2012, we will also be organizing a doctoral consortium specifically targeted at young researchers studying the effects of light and light design on human well-being.
The doctoral consortium will be held prior to the Experiencing Light 2012 conference, on Nov. 11, 2012, and the admission fee will be a modest €20 for students who also register for the Experiencing Light 2012 conference. We cordially invite doctoral students who feel they would benefit from feedback on their dissertation work to apply for this opportunity to share their work with senior researchers in the field and fellow students of light and lighting design. Announcing the International Conference of the Outdoor Learning Environment (ICOLE)
We are pleased to announce a new conference, ICOLE: the 1st International Conference of the Outdoor Learning Environment, to be held Feb. 3-8, 2013, in Israel. This unique conference will take participants all over Israel, as we explore different outdoor learning environments in the context of educational research. It is geared towards establishing a community of researchers who incorporate the outdoors into their work, in any discipline.
We are trying to reach as wide an audience as possible: geography, math, history, science, the arts, etc. Please feel free to distribute the ICOLE website to fellow researchers and colleagues in other educational fields as well. Participation is limited to the first 80 accepted proposals (due Sept. 1, 2012) and will be accepted on a rolling basis.

Visitor Studies Conference
The 25th Visitor Studies Association Conference: Knowing Our Past, Shaping Our Future: What’s Next for Visitor Studies? The conference will be held in Raleigh, N.C., from July 24-28, 2012. Visitor studies has grown from a passionate group of research-practitioners to a burgeoning field that includes cultural leaders, designers, funders, and policymakers. Through a variety of session formats, the conference will offer a venue for addressing critical questions and discuss how visitor studies can help shape and support the role of museums within our increasingly diverse and complex societies. In addition, participants are invited to two days of pre-conference workshops on effective evaluation of zoos, museums, aquaria, theaters, parks and other informal learning environments. Online registration closes July 13, 2012.
