Feminist Perspectives on Popular Culture
Chairperson: Shani Harris-Peterson, PhD
It is critical for feminist scholars, including feminist psychologists, to provide a framework for understanding and responding to the messages about gender and relationships that are pervasive in popular culture. This task force will create and maintain an interactive blog dedicated to facilitating dialogue surrounding popular culture from the perspective of feminist psychology. The blog contributors will address feminist themes that arise in film, television, popular books, public figures, music, and music videos. The format and content of this discourse is purposed to make feminism relevant to the everyday lives of women and girls. This site will launch in the fall of 2010.
