Call for nominations for The Advocate editor
By Julie Cohen, PhD
The Div. 37 Executive Committee is seeking nominations and self-nominations to fill a three-year term (2015-2017) as editor of the division newsletter, The Advocate. The goal of The Advocate is to support Div. 37's commitment to the application of psychological knowledge to advocacy, service delivery, and public policies affecting children, youth, and families by promoting the division's efforts in these areas and maintaining close communication between the board and the membership of the division.
The editor is responsible for all activities involved in preparing The Advocate for publication, including solicitation of regular and featured articles, editing, layout and formatting of issues, and coordinating with APA Central Office for publication on the Div. 37 website. We typically publish three issues per year of about 20 pages each.
The successful candidate will overlap with the current editor for the last few months of 2014 as editor-elect and assume the editor's role in January 2015. A nominee must be a member of Div. 37 with a comprehensive knowledge and broad perspective on child, youth and family policy and practice, as well as editorial experience.
