Student programming at the APA Convention

Check out the Div. 37 convention programs geared toward students.

The Annual APA Convention in Washington D.C. will be here before you know it. This year Div. 37 is celebrating our 37th anniversary. We have some great programming for students and hope to see you there.

The Div. 37 poster session will be held Aug. 8 from 12-12:50 p.m. in Halls D and E. There will be a great collection of posters featuring topics related to child and family policy and practice. Stop by to see the great research being done in this area.

Once again we are co-hosting a joint student social hour with Divs. 53 (Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology) and 54 (Society of Pediatric Psychology), held Friday night, Aug. 8, from 7-8 p.m. in the Div. 54 hospitality suite at the Marriott Marquis. Please join us and get to know other grad students and future colleagues with similar interests.

Be on the lookout for our 37th anniversary party for Div. 37. This is a great time to look back at all Div. 37 has accomplished and celebrate our history and our future.

Please check out the rest of Div. 37's programming for this year. There are many great sessions on a variety of topics of potential interest to our students.

After the convention, in the fall, the student board will be holding elections for all of our elected positions:

  • Membership Committee chair
  • Communications Committee chair(s)
  • Facebook Subcommittee chair
  • Programming Committee chair

Please consider getting involved with the Student Board for Div. 37. You can help represent the graduate student voice, get leadership experience and get to know other students interested in policy and practice. More on our elections will be in the next issue and on the student email list.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

I hope you enjoy your summer. See you in D.C.
