Updates from the Graduate Student committee, plus the many opportunities for members to get involved and exchange ideas

Be sure to check out William A. MacGillivray, PhD, ABPP, President's blog where you can find a summary of the January Board of Directors meeting.

From the Graduate Student Committee

The Graduate Student Committee promotes the interests of graduate student members of Division 39, serves as a network for the more than 300 student members, and supports them in their development as psychoanalytic psychologists.

We are excited about the program at the upcoming meeting in Santa Fe and encourage graduate students to come and participate. The program includes a workshop exclusively for graduate students with the conference keynote speakers Carlo Strenger, PhD and Kenneth Kosik, MD; a Live Supervision Workshop with Tanya Colter, MA, presenting to Jonathan Slavin, PhD, (supervisor); a graduate student clinical panel titled Creative Engagement in Psychodynamic Training: Working Across Differences, moderated by Marilyn Charles, PhD; and the President's Reception for Graduate Students and Early Career Professionals. Conference fees are very low: $60 for graduate student members, and the Graduate Student Committee is helping to coordinate options for sharing travel and accommodations expenses.

This year the Graduate Student Committee hopes to develop new ways for graduate students to connect through social media and other means in order to share information and experiences. We are also looking for ways to create more opportunities for graduate students to have their voices heard within the Division and beyond. Keep your eyes on this space to read articles written by graduate student members of the Division addressing their current interests and concerns.

If you have any questions about the Graduate Student Committee or would like to get involved, please contact Bart Magee or Brian Brown, 2012 Co-Chairs.
