The NYU Multiculturalism and Psychoanalysis Award

This NYU-sponsored award recognizes a doctoral level student who submits the best paper on racial, ethnic and cultural issues in psychoanalysis
The NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis is pleased to announce the inaugural Multiculturalism and Psychoanalysis Award, established by the Program's Committee on Ethnicity, Race, Culture, Class and Language (CERCCL).

This doctoral student must be enrolled in a program that confers eligibility for State Licensure in a mental health field, for example: psychology, social work, psychiatry.

The award is made possible by diversity funds given to the NYU Postdoctoral Program. It will be presented by Lewis Aron, PhD, Program Director, and by members of CERCCL, and the award winning paper will be discussed at a public forum at the NYU Postdoctoral Program. The current award comes with a $500 prize.

The deadline for submissions is Jan. 1, 2013.

Submission requirements:

  • Papers should be in APA style, not to exceed 25 pages (including tables, figures, and references).

  • The paper's header should exclude any information identifying the name or academic affiliations of the author, to permit the papers to be judged "blind."

  • Please submit separately a cover letter, which should include the author's name, academic affiliations, mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address. The cover letter should attest that the submitted paper is the unpublished work of an author who is currently enrolled in graduate school, or who completed doctoral requirements no later than 2012.

  • The submission should be made both in paper and electronic versions. The electronic version should be sent via email. Please include "Multiculturalism and Psychoanalysis Award" in the subject line.

  • The paper submission should be sent to:

NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis
240 Greene Street, 3rd Floor

The winner will be notified by April 15, 2013, with the date of award's presentation to be announced.
