Div. 47’s newsletter is back

We hope to make this an ongoing and relevant part of your experience with the division and our website.

By L. Kenneth Chew, Jr, PsyD

As many of you may have noticed, Div. 47 has not produced a regular newsletter in almost two years. Given recent communications and discussions with our most recent presidents, the time has come to shake off the rust and wipe off the cobwebs to make this a more regular part of our communication efforts again. I agree with our last communications director that the format of the letter should be briefer, more easily accessible and more targeted with regard to topics and scope. Going forward, we will continue with one to two columns from our current or past leadership. Also, I am hoping to have two to three additional articles that are brief and relevant to both the profession and the culture at large. Instead of having mentions of books, book reviews, apps or programs as part of the newsletter, we will continue to have those highlighted separately on the website. That information will likely be posted to the site bimonthly, whereas the newsletter will be released quarterly. If you have an interesting topic that you feel strongly about that you feel would be relevant, please feel free to reach out to me; and I’ll be happy to discuss how you may be contribute.

On a side note, I’d like to take a moment to highlight the work of the Kimberlee Bonura and Nick Galli for their work on SportPsych Works.

I’d also like to thank Ryan Sappington for his work with the APA to have prior Div. 47 webinars archived and available on the website.

Thank you for reading and please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback.
