Students serving Div. 47

Student initiatives increase involvement from professionals and student members.

By Julie Vieselmeyer, MS

In an effort to serve and connect with society professional and student members, we have focused on developing webinars that address hot topics in our field, and we continue to engage members and the public through social media.

Over the past 16 months we received an excellent response from the following webinars:

  • “So, you want to be a sport psychology practitioner?” featuring Mark Aoyagi, PhD; Kate F. Hays, PhD; and Judy Van Raalte, PhD.
  • “Sport Psychology 4.0: How to Help Athletes Navigate the World of Social Justice Advocacy and Activism” featuring Diane Gill, PhD; Stephany Coakley, PhD; and Leeja Carter, PhD.
  • "Athletes and Sexual Assault: Current and Future Practice in Prevention, Psychological Intervention, and Organizational Response” featuring Connie Kirkland, NCAA Task Force; John Heil, DA; Mitch Abrams, PsyD; and moderated by Judy Van Raalte, PhD.

Based on feedback from APA, we know that our webinars attract some of the highest attendance numbers across all divisions. Watch the email list for an upcoming webinar on performance psychology in fall 2017.
