The Diversity Committee (formerly the Diversity Task Force) strives to expand the diversity of Div. 18 membership, to increase the activity of division members from diverse backgrounds, and to encourage these individuals to take advantage of leadership opportunities and influence our practices and professional lives.

The Diversity Committee recognizes diversity as delineated in the Guidelines on Multicultural Education, Training, Research, Practice and Organizational Change for Psychology put forth by APA. This definition includes recognizing the broad scope of dimensions of race, ethnicity, language, sexual orientation, gender, age, disability, class status, education, religious/spiritual orientation, and other cultural dimensions.

  • Supporting Women of Color Through Infertility
    July 11, 2022
Rates of women experiencing infertility are higher than recognized and unique needs are often unaddressed. Stereotypes and mischaracterizations of women of color as hyper-sexual and hyper-fertile contribute to shame, isolation and lack of support, emotional distress, confusion and financial pressures when experiencing infertility. This webinar addresses the needs, challenges, resources, and resilience of women of color experiencing infertility. Recommendations for women of color and mental health professionals providing services to women color will be shared. This webinar is a collaboration between APA’s Committee on Women in Psychology (CWP) and the Diversity Committee of APA Division 18 (Psychologists in Public Service).
