Any fellow, member, associate or student affiliate of APA is eligible to join Division 25. In addition, an affiliate membership in Division 25 is available to non-members of APA. All individuals interested in basic and applied behavior analysis are invited to join Division 25.
All fellow, regular, associate, student and affiliate members receive biannual electronic editions of the Division 25 Recorder. This includes news and information about the general field of behavior analysis, awards, conferences, upcoming program activities and APA matters of particular interest to Division 25 members. The division sponsors a full program and dinner at APA’s annual convention, which all members are encouraged to attend.
Continued support of the division ensures the behavior analytic perspective is represented in APA governance and the contributions of behavior analysts are recognized by APA. As a regular member of APA’s Division 25, you are given a vote in APA-wide elections. For this reason we strongly recommend that you join APA and identify Division 25 as your primary field of interest.
In subsequent years, APA members will have Division 25 assessments added to their annual dues statement.
Become a Fellow of Division 25
The Division 25 Fellows Committee is seeking nominations and applications for fellow status in the division. Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged.
There are two paths to fellow status in the division:
Members of Division 25 who are APA members but not yet fellows of APA may apply for fellow status in Division 25. Applicants must meet both APA criteria and Division 25 criteria (5 years of experience in behavior analysis subsequent to a doctoral degree, publication of significant contributions in behavior analysis in addition to research carried out for the doctoral degree, and active participation in research).
In addition to meeting the eligibility criteria, applications for new fellow status require letters of endorsement from three current Division 25 fellows. Applications also require a detailed statement indicating specifically how the applicant meets both the APA and Division 25 criteria for fellows and completion of other information as required on the APA fellows application platform.
Applications to be a new APA fellow are submitted online through the APA fellows online application platform. This system will allow nominees, endorsers, and division fellows chairs to submit all required documents online. Applications will not be considered unless they are submitted through this system.
All materials, including letters of endorsement, must be submitted through the online platform by December 1. Applicants should enter the names and contact information for their endorsers before that date so that endorsers can submit their letters of recommendation by the deadline. It is recommended that this endorser information be entered before November 1.
Candidates’ applications are reviewed by the Division 25 Fellows Committee. Applications receiving a positive recommendation will be forwarded to the APA Fellows Committee, which will make the final decision. Please remember that there can only be one nominating division.
Any member of Division 25 who is already a fellow of APA, through another APA division, may apply to become a fellow of Division 25. Applications from current fellows are evaluated only by the Division 25 Fellows Committee.
Current fellows of APA may apply for Division 25 fellow status by sending a current CV and a letter detailing the ways in which the applicant meets the criteria for fellow status in Division 25. These materials must be emailed to the Fellows Committee chair, James A. Mulick. The due date for current fellows applications is March 1.
