The Society for the Psychology of Women (SPW) has five special sections. These sections have their own separate dues and sponsor activities with SPW and other related organizations. Membership is open to anyone.

Effects of racism include low self-esteem, illness, depression/anxiety and body image disturbances. Healing occurs with communication, validation, advocacy and empathy. -
Section VI: Alaska Native/American Indian/ Indigenous Women

American Indian women go beyond enduring adversity and embrace life, despite the traumatic history and cultural damage. Successful interventions are respectful, community based and evidence based.
