    Div. 39 President V. Barry Dauphin, PhD, ABPP, thanks the leadership team and discusses SPPP's name change. 

  • Call for Proposals: 40th Annual Spring Meeting
    General submission information: Panels, roundtables and papers must include an abstract for each prepared paper (if any), address the ways in which the submission engages the conference theme, include a description of the time allotted for discussion and explain how the submission takes up encouraged areas of exploration. Interested individuals are encourage to learn more on the annual meeting website. Questions about continuing education (CE) units for spring meetings, either in 2019 or 2020, should be directed to CE Chair Soffia Palsdottir.

  • Usha Tummala-Narra, PhD, a Div. 39 member, recently received honorable mention for the Prose ("Professional and Scholarly Excellence") Award in Psychology for her book, Psychoanalytic Theory and Cultural Competence (published by APA Books). This honor was awarded by the Professional and Scholarly Publishing  division of the American Association for Publishing. The Prose Awards are given annually in forty-five categories of scholarly publishing. It is a significant recognition of Usha's important contribution in integrating psychoanalytic thought with contemporary understanding of cultural competence. Usha previously received the Johanna Krout Tabin Book Prize for the book proposal, which allowed her to complete this groundbreaking work. Congratulations to Dr. Tummala-Narra.

  • The Future of Psychoanalysis
    Marilyn Charles, president of Div. 39, talks about her vision for the future. She contends that the psychoanalytic ideas and techniques have a great deal to offer, not just in terms of clinical training, but also as a useful lens to inform our ideas about parenting, education, public health, as well as our social systems and organizational structures.
