Timeline of a Mindful Group Adventure Therapist

Lee Gillis, PhD, Georgia College. Lee Gillis's work has emphasized the use of adventure therapy practice. He is currently a Co-PI on a grant to study the impact of adventure therapy on 18- to 24-year-old males with substance abuse issues. He shares on ongoing interest in how meta-analytic thinking helps explain group behavior through the use of group development activities from a database her has built over seven years.

A Guided Tour of Psychotherapy Research

George Tasca, PhD, University of Ottawa. George Tasca was a clinical psychologist at The Ottawa Hospital in the Eating Disorders Program, and he spent 15 years providing individual and group therapy to mental health inpatients and outpatients. In the last 12 years, he has transitioned to beocming a clinician-researcher. His interests include eating disorders, research methods, group and individual psychotherapy, adult psychopathology and attachment.

Demarginalizing Stigmatized Identities through Counseling Groups: Some Personal Reflections

Eric Chen, PhD, Fordham University. Eric Chen was born and raised in Taiwan and received his PhD in Counseling Psychology from Arizona State University. His current research programs focus on educational and career pursuits of legal and undocumented immigrant students and LGBTQ issues and health.

The Power of Groups for Children and Teens

Mary Alvord, PhD; Alvord, Baker and Associates. Mary Alvord has more than 35 years of clinical experience. Her work is with children, adolescents and adults. Over the past 22 years, she has developed and refined a resilience-based group therapy model to improve social competence training.
