New Mid-Career Awards

Div. 7 announces the creation of two new awards: the Mavis Hetherington Award and the Mary Ainsworth Award. Both awards recognize accomplishments of mid-career developmental scientists who are between 15-30 years from having received their doctoral degrees.

APA President Statement on Trauma of Separating Immigrant Families

Following is the statement of APA President Jessica Henderson Daniel, PhD:

“The administration’s policy of separating children from their families as they attempt to cross into the United States without documentation is not only needless and cruel, it threatens the mental and physical health of both the children and their caregivers..."

Tribute to Ed Zigler

In a recent moment of reminiscences, Ed reflected about the major areas of his life's work — his research, his social policy initiatives, his time in Washington, and he said his role as an educator and mentor. In ending the conversation, he said, “D'you know, of all the things I've done in my career, the thing that's been most important to me — that I've felt most proud of  – is mentoring my students? You young people, my students, have been so important to me throughout my life. I hope you know that.” .We do, Ed.
