The designation of fellow is awarded to those members of the division who, in the judgment of their peers, have made a distinguished scientific or scholarly contribution to the field of developmental psychology. The contribution will ordinarily take the form of published papers or books documenting the candidate’s empirical research, the development of theory or methods or other scholarly pursuits. Please note that nominees may already be fellows in other divisions of APA.

All fellow nominees must be members of APA Div. 7. Any member of Div. 7 may nominate someone for fellow status and self-nominations are accepted. The nominee for new fellow status will need to obtain three letters of support from current or past fellows of APA, and submit the Uniform Fellow Application, the Nominee’s Self – Statement, and an updated CV. Members who are being nominated for Div. 7 fellow status and who are already a fellow of another division submit a smaller set of materials. All instructions are on the Uniform Fellow Application, including a self-checklist for use by the nominees.

Deadline: Dec. 1, yearly

  • Nominators should contact the Div. 7 fellows chair (below) for further instructions.

  • Application materials should be submitted electronically, if possible.
