Doctoral Dissertation Award in the Psychology of Aging

Recognition of a doctoral student or recent graduate for exemplary research contributing to theory or practice of adult development and aging.

The recipient will be presented with a cash award at the Division 20 Business Meeting during the annual APA convention in the year the award is received.

Nominees must be current members or affiliates of Division 20. Candidates must have completed or expect to complete their doctoral dissertation annually between June 1, 2025-May 31, 2026.

The nomination materials will include the following:

• A letter of support from dissertation supervisor.
• A current CV of the nominee.
• A personal statement about merit and potential impact of the dissertation (maximum of three double-spaced pages with 12pt font).
• An abstract of the dissertation (maximum of 10 double-spaced pages with 12pt font).

Nominations will be reviewed by a committee comprised of the executive committee and division members.
