APA Division Top Interests for Interdivision Collaboration
The APA Division Engagement Office collected the top interests areas of 2026 across all the APA divisions to help with interdivisional collaboration. As part of this effort, divisions were asked to share their top 3-5 areas of interest within their division. For Division 20, those interests were:
- Developing strategic connections with APA and its divisions to address ageism and to advance age-inclusivity as part of broader diversity, inclusion, and equity, including Division 20’s Age-Friendly University (AFU) efforts in collaboration with the Gerontological Society of America.
- Developing strategic connections within APA to protect and promote federal funding and policies aimed at efforts to support the health, independence, well-being, quality of life, and social connectivity of individuals at midlife (age 40+) and older people (age 65+).
- Developing strategic connections with other divisions interested in strengthening the connections and flow of information between those who do research on aging and those who practice with and who engage in care-provision for older adults.
- Developing strategic connections with APA and its divisions to build pipelines to careers in adult development and aging and to support early career professionals (e.g., through mentorship programs, hosting informational workshops and events, etc.).
- Develop strategic connections within APA to protect and promote policies that coordinate services for older adults and their personal and professional caregivers across the lifespan.
