Graduate Student and Early Career Professional Travel Awards
The purpose of this award is to support one graduate student and one early career professional (ECP) to access the professional development and networking opportunities that the convention offers and increase their exposure to the field of sport, exercise, and performance psychology. Additionally, these awards are intended to increase division member participation at the APA Annual Convention at important events like the speed networking sessions and the division business meeting.
All graduate students currently enrolled in a sport, exercise, and performance psychology graduate program, and ECPs (i.e., no more than 10 years following the conferral of their most recent degree) currently working, researching, or practicing in sport, exercise, and performance psychology are eligible to apply for this award.
Consideration will be given to those applicants who demonstrate aspects of the following:
- Leadership experience
- Publications
- Research experience
- Applied work, and/or
- Public service and community activities
Applications should include the following:
1. A letter of nomination, no more than two pages, single-spaced, outlining:
- the applicant’s training and current position (e.g., first-year master’s student in sport, exercise, and performance psychology, a clinical psychology student/graduate student, assistant professor);
- the applicant’s current research or applied work;
- the applicant’s professional goals; and
- how attending the convention will help enhance the applicant’s professional development towards the research and practice of sport, exercise, and performance psychology.
2. A current curriculum vitae of no more than 10 pages.
