Mission

The mission of the SIG is to provide a space for members to share their current and future projects focused on coping, resilience, and successful aging. This SIG will foster the professional development, education, and networks of APA members committed to improving the quality of life of others in their communities and bring more awareness to the strengths-approach to psychology and wellbeing of its members and research agenda.

The vision of the SIG is to increase awareness and education on topics of Coping, Resilience, and Successful Aging for the APA members, and encourage the inclusion of these topics among other SIG and APA activities.

Objectives

  1. Encourage and support initiatives that foster coping, resilience, and successful aging across the lifespan.
  2. Generate and disseminate educational opportunities and information concerning coping, resilience, and successful aging.
  3. Organize and share programing related to coping, resilience and successful aging at the American Psychological Association Annual Conference and other relevant conferences.
  4. Represent and advocate for the interests of the Coping, Resilience, and Successful Aging SIG with Division 20, American Psychological Association, and other relevant stakeholders.
