My research focuses on the contributions of lifestyle and nutrition to successful aging, and the interplay of these factors on depression and cognition. It is our psychological, social, physical, and biological functionality that holistically contributes to healthy aging into older adulthood. I believe that it is a magnificent undertaking to integrate these factors into one’s life and to help foster more effective mental health treatments for older adults.
After receiving a Master of Science in cognitive neuropsychology, investigating biomarkers of mood disorders and posttraumatic stress disorder through the lens of multimodal neuroimaging, I eagerly joined the Aging, Depression, and Neuropsychology (AND) Research Lab at PAU. Here, I developed a more concentrated passion for clinical work and research with older adults. I recently presented a poster concerning wellbeing and cognition in successful aging at the 2022 APA Annual Convention. There, I attended the D20 social hour, and was able to personally speak with some of you about various studies acknowledging needs, improving care, and advancing knowledge concerning older adults. I gained appreciation and inspiration to dedicate work in adult development and aging research. I absolutely loved my time at APA 2022 and was thrilled to meet likeminded individuals with similar missions to work with and contribute to further research that benefits the longest lived and most experienced individuals in our society. I look forward to acting as a student representative, developing my own career within this field and to contributing to the vital work of Division 20.
