I hope everyone is doing well. The purpose of this newsletter is to highlight Div. 21 activities over the past year. One of our most exciting initiatives is the Div. 21 theme at APA’s 2019 convention of gaming. Program Chair Shawn Doherty, PhD, and I sent invitations to researchers active in gaming, virtual reality, augmented reality and similar topics to present in Chicago this August. Our goal was to have multiple sessions at APA’s convention devoted to technology and gaming. Part of this idea came from a Div. 21 gaming sessions a few years ago at APA’s convention in Denver that generated good buzz. The approach is intended to give the larger constituency of APA a look at some of the latest research in human factors and applied experimental psychology in the area of gaming and engage a wider audience for our division.
For more information, please see the message from Shawn Doherty and other resources in the full newsletter issue (PDF, 404KB)opens in new window, as well as the full Div. 21 convention program (PDF, 171KB)opens in new window. I look forward to seeing you in Chicago. Be sure to join us for our annual dinner on Friday, Aug. 9, sponsored by the division.
