The 2022 Midwinter Meeting (March 11–12, 2022) will be held virtually in the spring as a way to encourage access and keep all attendees safe as we continue to live through the uncertainties of this global pandemic. We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to collaborate with scholars from around the world to enhance conference planning and organizing efforts.
The call for proposals went out a little while ago and includes important information about the new format for this midwinter. In line with this year’s presidential theme of epistemic access, we are imagining a virtual space that is accessible to attendees with varying resources, from various countries and backgrounds, and who may be engaging with Div. 24 for the first time. As a result, the Midwinter Programming Committee has and will continue to center access at all levels of planning. The hours of the conference will ensure that the Eastern Time Zones are not privileged over others and the registration fee structure is based on access to resources. Additionally, rather than traditional presented papers, we invite submissions for roundtable dialogues—hour-long facilitated conversations. We encourage roundtables broadly related to this year’s theme of epistemic access, but also welcome other dialogues of importance to theoretical and philosophical psychology. All submitted proposals should provide an opportunity for exciting, challenging and accessible dialogue between presenters and audience members. We are excited to hopefully expand our community at Div. 24 through these efforts.
Everyone interested in facilitating a dialogue should plan to submit a proposal by December 15, 2021.
We encourage everyone to distribute the call widely (after submitting your own proposal) and look forward to seeing you there. We cannot wait to engage in a dialogue with each and every one of you.
Sincerely,
Co-chairs: Donald Brown (United States) and Emese Iyes (Canada)
Committee members: Orin Segal (Israel), Nicholas Malherbe (South Africa), Mar Fournier Pereira (Costa Rica) and Friederike Windel (United States)
