 2026 Spring Meeting York University

Madness, Mysticism, and the Reenchantment of Psychology

May 14–16, 2026
York University, Toronto

We are thrilled to announce that the program for the 2026 APA Division 24 Spring Meeting is now live! We can’t wait to see you there.

This year’s theme, Madness, Mysticism, and the Reenchantment of Psychology, is an invitation to ask what psychology might become when we open it to the full range of human experience: the strange, the sacred, the unsettled, and the transformative. Over three days in Toronto, we will gather across disciplines, traditions, and perspectives to think together about what it means to take the mind seriously and expansively.

At a moment when the very foundations of knowledge, the infrastructure of care, and our moral agreements are under pressure, we believe that being in community matters more than ever. This conference is truly an act of collective imagination, co-constructed by all who will be part of it, a space to think alongside one another, and to resist isolation.

The conference brings together an extraordinary community of scholars, practitioners, activists, artists, beings, and curious thinkers. We are honored to welcome three keynote speakers whose work has pushed the boundaries of what psychology can be:

  • Micha Frazer-Carroll: Author and journalist on madness, race, and the politics of mental health
  • Báyò Akómoláfe: Philosopher, writer, and post-activist thinker on complexity and the more-than-human
  • Marco Gemignani: Scholar of narrative, qualitative inquiry, and the poetics of psychological research

Alongside the keynotes, the program features over 150 contributors across paper sessions, symposia, workshops, experiences, and a poster session, this vibrant assemblage of perspectives representing some of the most vital conversations happening at the edges of psychological theory today.

Please join us!

Whether you are a Division 24 member, a student, a clinician, a researcher working in adjacent fields, or simply someone drawn to these questions, you are welcome to co-create this space with us.

Registration is open now. We hope to see you in Toronto.

Closing keynote

Marco Gemignani, PhD, draws on critical and qualitative methodologies, cultural studies, and post-structural approaches to migration, borders, and the political production of subjectivity. He focuses on how institutions and knowledge practices shape what kinds of lives become possible, especially for people navigating displacement, surveillance, and the politics of belonging.
