The Div. 31 Integrated Care Task Force re-formed in 2018 to address the integrated care needs of state associations. Specifically, integrated care advocacy often takes place at the state level, and Div. 31 can act as a connector between larger integrated care initiatives and state associations. Since 2018, the task force has presented at Practice Leadership Conference (PLC) and APA Convention, maintained blogposts on integrated care and participated in interdivisional integrated care meetings.
Based on discussion and feedback, the task force is now focusing on developing a State Toolkit for Integrated Care which will contain access to specific state legislative language related to integrated care, links to training and workforce development tools, and practical tools such as access to integrated care policies, ethics white papers and resources on interprofessional relationships.
Check out just a few of the activities the task force is excited about this summer:
- New Integrated Care Policy: Check out the blogpostopens in new window and the full policyopens in new window here.
- Sponsoring an interdivisional collaborative program at the 2019 APA Convention. It will take place Saturday, August 10, from 4-5:50 p.m. in McCormick Place, Room W183a. The topic is, “ Integrated primary care, psychology trainees, and serving an underserved Medicaid population” with Shirley Higuchi, Alan Nessman, Winnie Fong, Pete Liggett, Cathy Grus and Kathy Ashton.
- Opioid workforce training. Elena Eisman and the Center for Psychology and the Ohio Psychological Association are putting together a pilot program this fall for psychologists interested in training on working with the opioid epidemic. The task force and Div. 31 hope to connect this program to other state associations.
- Ethics Revision. Members of the task force, including Barbara Ward Zimmerman, Doug Tynan and Kathy Ashton, were pleased to be part of a workgroup to provide feedback to the ethics code revision committee on integrated care topics.
I'd like to thank the Div. 31 Integrated Care Task Force members for their continued dedication to both integrated care and state associations: Barbara Ward-Zimmerman; Natalie Piliplenko; Doug Tynan; Paul Korte; Jennifer Kelley; Roseann Fish Getchell; and Elena Eisman.
