The Committee on Early Career Psychologists (CECP) has recently focused on implementing APA’s strategic plan by working to be an anti-racist committee. Together, we are strategizing to increase communication between CECP and early career psychologists (ECPs) across the nation, as well as between CECP and other committees within APA. We are working to develop mechanisms to promote EPCs and their work. We will be paying particular attention to promoting ECPs with diverse backgrounds and/or who are doing work directly attending to issues of diversity. Members of the CECP hope to act as a pipeline to transport ECP’s work to the forefront, highlighting their vital efforts.
In addition, CECP is circling back to previous recipients of the Early Career Grant to Support Community-based Workshops grants to emphasize the objectives they were able to achieve using award funding. CECP has also scheduled a meeting with APA’s Board of Directors to discuss how CECP can effectively work with the board and within the association so the needs of ECPs are attended to, and ECPs, APA, and society see benefits. We will continue to keep members of Div. 31 updated around the strategic goals and plans of the CECP!
