The Committee on Early Career Psychologists (CECP) has been very busy working to meet our strategic goals of: elevating visibility of early career psychologists (ECPs), creating leadership trainings and leadership opportunities for ECPs, engaging in anti-racist work, and prioritizing equity, diversity and inclusion in every aspect of our work. We have recently updated our awards to reflect these priorities. We separated our APA Achievement Award for Early Career Psychologists into categories that focus on anti-racist as well as diversity, equity and inclusion-oriented work. We also reinstated the ECP Champion award, which is meant to celebrate individuals or groups who focus on the achievements of early career psychologists.
In addition, our committee has just released the call for applications for the Early Career Grant to support Community-Based Workshops as well as the Early Career International Psychology Grants. To support the work of ECPs in SPTAs, we have recently launched an ECP database survey to collect information about ECPs who serve in leadership positions on SPTAs and Divisions. If you received this survey, please do complete it! It only takes a couple of minutes and provides great information that will allow us to create a sustainable ECP network with many opportunities for leadership among ECPs. In July, we will host a leadership workshop for ECPs in leadership within APA and across SPTAs. This workshop will occur in conjunction with the Advancing the Role of Psychology in Education and Student Well-being virtual advocacy summit on July 25-26.
The CECP continues to work to meet our goals and to champion ECPs across the nation!
