13th Annual Conference of the Society for Humanistic Psychology
March 19-22, 2020 at the University of New Orleans
As Within, so Without: Humanistic Psychology, Revolutionary Stewardship, and Global Justice
It is with great regret and sadness that I write to inform you that the 13th annual Humanistic Psychology Conference in New Orleans has been canceled due to increasingly mounting concerns about COVID-19 and health risks currently associated with travel and attendance at large public gatherings. We have received clear and supportive guidance and are confident that we are making the best decision to support the health and well-being of our community. We cherish all of you.
All venues associated with the conference are working with us. We have high hopes at this point that this will actually be a postponement of the conference in New Orleans until a later time this year. All registration fees will be fully refunded, and we are deeply regretful about any other inconveniences this news will incur. Please be patient with us as we navigate the intricacies of refunds.
I will post updates regarding potential rescheduling of the conference and other related developments as I am able. More info will be available on the Humanistic Psychology Conference websiteopens in new window.
In the meantime, please be safe and well.
Thank you so much to all of you who planned to attend and present, and deep gratitude to Nathaniel Granger and the Conference Committee for endless hours of hard work and planning that have gone into this conference.
In solidarity,
Drake Spaeth
President, APA's Div. 32

The Humanistic Psychologist
I would once more like to urge all our members in SHP, national as well as international, to please be sure that your institutions are subscribing to the journal, whether independently or through a bundled subscription to APA journals. But even more importantly, please go into your institutional library portals to download and read articles from time to time, even if you are receiving print issues. You should have free access through those portals. And whenever possible, have your students and colleagues go through those same portals to download copies of individual articles (rather than forwarding personal copies), because the more downloads we generate, the higher our revenue share will be each year.
Please note that there will be an editor’s statement in the March 2020 issue of the journal announcing our upcoming special issues on mindfulness, women in humanistic psychology and human-animal relationships.
Please remember that The Humanistic Psychologist is the official APA division journal for the Society for Humanistic Psychology, publishing volume 48 in the year 2020. Keep the submissions coming.
Your Editor,
Scott Churchill
