Membership

SPSOGD provides a culture of support for its members looking for a professional home within the field of psychology. With over 1,500 members currently, the SPSOGD represents all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and eleven foreign countries on every inhabited continent.

As a Division 44 - SPSOGD member, you will benefit from access to:

    Psychology of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity was launched in 2014 and will be distributed quarterly to all members.

    Funding for personal/professional development and research to advance the field of LGBTQ psychology.

While membership in APA is encouraged for all member types, it is not a requirement to join SPSOGD.

Member, Professional Affiliate

 Non-APA member; Doctoral degree in psychology $50

Access to division journal.

Associate

 Master's or two years of graduate study in psychology or related field at a regionally accredited institution $50

Access to division journal.

May not hold executive office in the society (but they may serve in appointed positions).

After five years of associate status, individuals may vote in elections.

Fellow

 Appointed by division $50

Division journal

Confidential Affiliate

 Open to anyone with an interest in sexual orientation issues $50

APA members who wish to have their affiliation with Division 44 held in confidence may also request this membership category from the membership chair.

International Affiliate

 All requirements to be an APA international affiliate must be met. $50

Access to division journal.

May not hold executive office in the society.

May serve in appointed positions.

Student Affiliate WITH Journal

 Full-time psychology student (graduate or undergraduate) with a professional interest in LGBTQ psychology. Membership in APAGS is encouraged but not required. $25

May not hold executive office in the society.

May serve in appointed positions.

May not vote in any society- or APA-specific election.

Student Affiliate WITHOUT Journal

 Students of psychology (graduate or undergraduate) and have a professional interest in LGBT psychology. Membership in APAGS (APA's graduate student organization) is encouraged but not required. $10

May not hold executive office in the society.

May serve in appointed positions.

May not vote in any society- or APA-specific election.

Life Status APA/Member (No Journal/Newsletter)

 Appointed by division $0
