The Bisexual Issues Committee (BIC) hosted two successful events at the digital APA 2020 convention. Our programming coordinator, Jasper Privat, organized a symposium on “Bi+ Relationships: Clinical Applications.” We also had great discussions at our annual conversation hour. We look forward to continuing these conversations in our new Bi+ Psychology Social Hours on the third Thursdays of each month at 6–7pm Eastern Time. Contact Jasper for the Zoom link for November 19!
The BIC appreciated the opportunity to raise awareness about bisexuality during Bisexual Awareness Week this September! Student Representative Colleen Kase began a discussion about bi visibility and experiences in the BIC listserv. We also published the latest News Beyond the Binary.
Jasper has also released a call for abstracts for the BIC symposium at APA 2021. The topic is “Bi+ Intersections,” and we are seeking submissions related to research focusing on bi+ individuals with multiple marginalized identities. Abstracts of 500 words (including statement of problem, sample, procedure, results, and conclusions) should be submitted to Jasper by Monday, November 2nd.
Finally, we are excited to announce the next Programming Coordinator Eleanor McCabe, who will be overlapping with Jasper. Welcome Eleanor!
