Pursuant to division process, we have undertaken an annual review of requests for endorsement by candidates for APA president-elect. This process has three steps. Our trio of Council Representatives and our presidential trio met separately, and both groups considered all candidate requests and information, evaluating the candidates against our division’s values, goals, and priorities. Following their unanimous recommendations, a vote was then put to the full executive board, for approval of this recommendation.
After carefully reviewing the candidates and requests we received, the Board has approved the sole endorsement of Frank Worrell, PhD. This endorsement means that we, collectively, believe that Worrell’s candidacy most clearly aligns with the values, priorities, and commitments of Division 44.
Our division’s endorsement is not in any way meant to be binding on the choice of any division member, including members of the executive board. We urge you all to engage in critical evaluation of candidates for this and all positions on the APA ballot and to make your own, thoughtful decisions. We recognize that your ultimate decisions are deeply personal and driven by your own priorities and concerns. You will receive your ballot information via email directly from APA later this month. However you decide to vote, we do strongly encourage you to vote. Your vote ensures that the voices of sexual and gender diverse individuals are represented, and that we hold our appropriate place at the decision making table.
