In balloting that occurred in July this year, the APA Council of Representatives elected two former Division 44 presidents to the APA Board of Directors:
Arlene Noriega, PhD (Division 44 President 2012–13) was elected to be the chair-elect of the Council Leadership Team (CLT). Noriega has served a three-year term as a member-at-large on the CLT (currently in her third year) and will become chair-elect in January 2023. She will concurrently serve on the APA Board of Directors, as chair-elect and then as chair, in 2023 and 2024. Noriega previously served on the APA Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity, chairing that committee in her final year.
Michael Hendricks, PhD (Division 44 President 2013–14) was elected to become APA’s next treasurer, a three-year term that begins in January 2023. Hendricks is currently in his fifth year on the APA Finance Committee, and in his second year as the committee’s vice chair. As treasurer, he will chair the Finance Committee and will also serve on the Executive Committee of the APA Board of Directors. He will also serve concurrently as a member of the CLT, meaning that Noriega and Hendricks will serve together on both the Board of Directors and the CLT.
Both Hendricks and Noriega have also each served two terms as representatives of Division 44 to the APA Council of Representatives: Hendricks, 2016–21; Noriega, 2017–22.
