APA Division 37 Child and Family Citizen Psychologist Award
The inaugural APA Division 37 Child and Family Citizen Psychologist Award was made possible by a grant from the American Psychological Association in 2019. A part of APA Citizen Psychologist initiative, this award is intended to recognize and showcase the excellent community engagement of our members who contribute to their communities outside of their day-to-day professional duties. The award spotlights members who do not typically receive recognition for their service to the community. Such community engagement can serve to benefit the local, professional, national, or global communities. The recipient will receive a $500 honorarium and will be invited to host a webinar on a topic of their choice.
Annual deadline: February 10
- Nominees should provide a one- to two-page personal statement regarding how their role as psychologist has benefited society.
- Submit a current CV.
- Provide two letters of support, one from a community agency/organization that has benefited from the psychologist’s efforts.
Nominations should be sent to the current member at large for Advocacy.
2022: Jessica Borelli, PhD, University of California, Irvine, for her work with the Latino Health Access community health agency in Santa Ana, CA.
2021: Lindsay Malloy, PhD, and Amanda Zelechoski, PhD, for their work co-founding and co-running the Pandemic Parenting nonprofit organization and web platform.
