Early career member recruitment and awards

The Early Career Psychologist (ECP) committee has been recruiting new members and congratulates the first recipients of the Div. 37 ECP awards.

By Paula Fite, PhD

Dear Div. 37 early career professionals,

I hope that everyone had a great time at the APA convention this past August. It is hard to believe, but the Early Career Psychologist (ECP) committee is already well into planning the ECP social happy hour for next year's convention in Denver. This is will be one of the many events of interest to Div. 37 ECP members — so we hope you plan on attending the 2016 convention.

The ECP committee has also been working diligently on ECP recruitment. We recently sent out another batch of recruitment letters to various internship and postdoctoral programs, and we have posted information on various email lists. Thanks to the Div. 37 executive board and APA staff members, we now have an online form for first-time ECP members to register and receive a free one-year membership. This form makes it much easier for first-time ECP members to join and take advantage of the free one-year membership. Additionally, this form will allow us to better track enrollment of new ECP members. Please feel free to share the link to the online form with ECP colleagues you think may be interested in joining Div. 37.

Last, but certainly not least, the ECP committee would like to personally congratulate our first recipients of the Div. 37 early career awards: Cynthia Najdowski was the recipient of the Early Career Research Grant and Margaret Stevenson was the recipient of the Early Career Service Award. These are two truly outstanding Div. 37 early career members. Applications for the awards will be due again June 1. You can visit the Div. 37 website for more information.

If you have any questions or suggestions for how to better serve our ECP members, please let me know.
