In 2016, we asked our Div. 37 members to complete a survey regarding their experiences with the division and resources utilized. Our members noted that they rely on our listserv, website and "The Advocate" newsletter for information relevant to policy, research and practice. This summer, we are conducting an online survey with a focus on gathering more specific information on the type of content you want to see made available from Div. 37. The survey will be distributed in June via our listserv.
The last couple of years, the division has also rolled out diversity-related initiatives focused on revising our mission statement and dedicating one of the student poster awards to a student-led project with a diversity-related theme. Although the division has a long-standing commitment to addressing diversity (broadly defined), we want our commitment to be more visible in the spirit of being inclusive. There are many of us who do great work with regard to policy and practice that has a meaningful impact on our communities. Many of the communities we work with are underserved. We would like to highlight our members who do great work in their communities. If you know of someone who works tirelessly to improve the quality of life and well-being for members of their community via policy work or practice, please email me. We would like to highlight individuals who do great work.
Finally, if you are wanting to get more actively involved in the division, please reach out to me or one of our Executive Board members. We look forward to hearing from you.
