The Section completed its elections and appointment for positions this fall and will welcome several new officers in January 2025:

Many thanks to our Past President, Maggie Stevenson for leading the elections, and to our President-Elect, Anna Washington for helping us to generate such a great team for 2026!
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our executive board members who have completed terms this year including Elisa Vele, Cynthia Najdowski, Kris Dean, Betsy Tampke, Katie Edler, and Helen Milojevich.
Membership engagement
As always, we are interested in ways for Section members to become more involved and engaged.
Reminder: Please renew your Section Membership on our website in January. When you complete your APA membership and division renewals, the Section membership is not automatically included. Please visit our Section on Child Maltreatment websiteopens in new window to keep your membership current.

Convention
Section members enjoyed attending and presenting at APA 2025 Convention in Denver in August. The opportunity to connect with each other in person was meaningful and exciting! Our Section Business Meeting and our Presidential Symposia were well-attended. Invited speakers Lisa Jones, Warren Binford, Nan Xiao, and Jodi Quas engaged us in meaningful discussion on the risks and benefits of digital technology for youth in the context of child victimization and child maltreatment. Thank you to all who attended!
A huge thank you also to Division Program Chair Betsy Tampke and Section Program Co-Chair Samantha Brown for their hard work in organizing a successful fundraiser to support a local charity, Thriving Families. We hope that this annual tradition will continue! Stay tuned for opportunities to present and connect at the 2026 Convention!
Sincerely,
Kristin Valentino, PhD
