Division 37 members Alyssa R. Palmer, PhD, Janette E. Herbers, PhD, and J. J. Cutuli, PhD, collaborated with several other APA divisions to create a collection of policy papers titled Rethinking Inequality: Leveraging Psychological Science to Advance Economic Justice. The goal of this collection is to highlight the important role of psychological science in anti-poverty policymaking. Palmer and colleagues wrote about how policymakers and practitioners may work together to meet the developmental needs of young children experiencing homelessness. Young children are at increased risk for experiencing homelessness, and subsequently at risk for concurrent and future developmental challenges. Their brief advocates for increased early identification of developmental challenges, better connection to preventive and intervention services, and the promotion of anti-poverty initiatives.
