Evidence-based Family Psychology

In the last decade Family Psychology has also developed a number of evidence based family psychology treatments. These are specific and systematic treatment models designed to help specific clients with particular clinical problems. This literature suggests that there are a number of promising empirically supported family therapy approaches for working with a range of populations including both adolescents and adults (Alexander, Robbins, & Sexton, 2000; Atkins, Dimidjian, & Christenson, 2003; Baucom, Shoham, Mueser, Daiuto, & Stickle, 1998; Kazdin, 1997; Sexton & Alexander, 2002).
