I represent Div. 49 on the Coalition for Psychology in Schools and Education, a combination of 29 of the divisions of APA. We meet twice yearly in Washington, D.C., at APA headquarters. We work on such matters as the development of a set of psychological principles to help teachers develop “effect instruction, classroom environments that promote learning and appropriate use of assessment.” I have worked on several projects, including the teacher’s need survey. Currently, I am working on the engaging families project, which consists of a series of blog posts to address teacher’s desires for more information on engaging families at the secondary school level. This became apparent from the data in the previously completed teacher’s needs survey. There is much collegiality in the group, and I am pleased to be able to talk about group work from time to time.
