Greetings, Div. 37 Early Career Professionals (ECP):
I am excited to report that our first mentor match for Div. 37 attracted 11 mentor-mentee pairs! As many of you know, increasing mentorship opportunities was a goal for Div. 37, and our ECP Committee specifically. It was wonderful to see a variety of members take part in this opportunity – we had a mix of researchers, clinicians, administrators and those in teaching roles. We hope that this opportunity will be a benefit to all individuals taking part, and hope to have some midpoint data to share with you in upcoming newsletters. If you are interested in taking part in this project, keep a look out for our next match in the fall.
As we come into spring, I want to remind you that there are two ECP-focused awards from the division, both due June 1. The Mark Chaffin Research Award ($1,000 prize) supports ECPs who are conducting projects consistent with the goals and mission of the division: To integrate policy, practice and science to better serve children, adolescents and families. The ECP Service Award ($500 prize) celebrates an ECP whose service directly impacts the advocacy, service delivery and public policies affecting children, youth and families. For more information on how to apply, please visit Div. 37’s awards page.
Lastly, we are happy to report that we will be expanding our happy hour at convention this year. For this year’s event, the ECP Committee and Section on Child Maltreatment will be co-hosting the space for networking, and all division members will be invited to participate in the event. We hope that this integration of members across the spectrum of experience will allow for increased networking and collaboration.
As always, if you have any questions or suggestions for how to better serve our ECP members, please let me know. Wishing you a wonderful end to winter and beautiful spring ahead.
