Div. 49 solicits proposals for posters with themes central to promoting cultural diversity, social justice and equity through group psychology or group psychotherapy.

Division 49 provides two publications to members: the journal, Group Dynamics: Theory, Research, and Practice, and the newsletter, The Group Psychologist.

Division 49 provides a forum for psychologists interested in research, teaching and practice in group psychology and group psychotherapy.

Division 49 (Society of Group Psychology and Group Psychotherapy) promotes the development and advancement of the field of group psychology and the modality of group psychotherapy through research, teaching and education and clinical practice and to further the general objectives of the APA.

Division 49 sponsors several awards, including the Distinguished Group Psychologist Award and the Dissertation Award.

The Student Award for Outstanding Professional Contribution to Diversity in Group Psychology or Group Psychotherapy seeks to recognize excellence in group psychology practice, research, service and/or advocacy with a focus on promoting understanding and respect for diversity. 

The Society of Group Psychology and Group Psychotherapy is offering student travel awards for the 2018 APA Convention. 

The Society of Group Psychology and Group Psychotherapy (APA Division 49) offers up to three awards for students presenting posters at the Annual APA Convention

This award is granted to a teaching professional (post-graduate) who has demonstrated excellence in teaching or mentoring in the area of group psychology or group psychotherapy at the undergraduate or graduate level.

This award recognizes outstanding contributions to the practice of group psychotherapy and/or other applied group interventions.
